Food and Flowers

My inspiration for today is beautiful food styling and floral designs.

I’ve really just combined food and flowers based on the feeling they evoke, and a sense of harmony that they create being placed next to each other.
Hopefully one day I manage to put together food and flowers that look this good.

Credits mentioned with each image.

The images below are just food styling and photography that look fantastic.

DOSHI'S : Furniture and Antiques

As a child when I used to accompany my mother on her furniture and antique shopping trips to Mahindra Doshi’s walkeshwar workshop, it felt a bit like entering a secret treasure cave.As a child the scale and proportions of this space were quite intimidating and mysterious and going back as an adult the magic still remains. You get to roam between three floors of narrow alley ways carved out form in between tall towering walls of furniture. The key is to have a good eye and be able to pick out what you are looking for. Half the fun is finding that perfect piece and waiting, while the team of highly skilled workmen bring it to life for you, and the 2 months later you have your perfect piece of furniture ready to placed in just the right spot.

Mahindra Doshi was one of the first antique dealers India, his brilliant work is now being
looked after by his nephews Chiki and Aseem and cousin Anand Gandhi. Doshi’s is not just antiques it’s more.... the good news is that you can now place orders on new furniture. Using traditional workmanship and seasoned solid woods you can be completely confident of the end product. In the chaos of India’s disorganized furniture industry the Doshi’s offer structure, quality and punctuality. To make things even easier for those who arnt quite able to visualize the end product the first floor now houses finished ready to buy furniture.
Part of the whole experience is hanging out at their stunning location in walkeshwar, down a flight of stairs and your transported to another world. If I came here to work every day, with the stunning views completely devoid
of the sound of traffic, id never leave!!

Now all we need is for them to open a little cafe!

PINK INDIA

Lena moved to India from Sweden many years ago as a buyer for H&M. We were all living in Bangalore at the time and she was one of the few stylish women in the city with a completely distinctive sense of fashion and definitely one of the only women I know who could and still can carry off the Boho Chic look in fashion as well the interiors of her various homes .

Combining her Swedish roots, global travel and years of experience in fashion( finally much to all of our delight )she began her own fashion and accessories line PINK INDIA in 2004.
I am a huge Pink India fan and I’m sure you will love her stuff too. My favourites are the silk crinkle dresses that come in their own little silk pouches, and the make -up pouches in printed poplin with PVC lining inside and out.
The collection of dresses and tunics are made from fine cottons and silk, hand printed or hand embroidered and accessories range from canvas to poplin, with fresh prints being created each season.
Pink India is available in multiple locations in India and around the world.

DIY project:Art Display

My project for this week is a DIY project of sorts.
Beautiful furniture is being displayed temporarily at a show apartment. The walls are bare and because the space will only be used for a short period of time I need to find an option that will create maximum impact, with minimum damage to the walls ( I’d like to avoid nails and hooks for hanging ) While searching for inspiration I thought I’d put together a few images that might be of help in case anyone else is looking for art display ideas.
While some images do present damage free ideas, some are just great ideas to create feelings of bold geometric drama, some are light and single impact pieces of art work and some are fun ways to arrange multiple art works ! Enjoy .....
LEFT :a bold bolt of colour adds a dynamic feel inspite of the dark walls.
RIGHT :abstratct art hung on the wall without a frame, lends a contemporary
feel to the kitchen

LEFT : A combination of framed and unframed art works are casually placed on the floors, and hung on the wall. Combined with the eclectic furniture it creates a young vibrant feel for this space.
RIGHT : picking colours from the painting has helped to enhance the accented neutral color scheme for this seating area.

LEFT  and RIGHT : Both these images illustrate setting an overall feeling of calm with
large pale quiet art works both are framed with white which blends into the walls.

LEFT : frameless canvases in pale pastel colours arranged in jigsaw fashion to cover the area of the wall.
RIGHT : Framed black and whites in frames arranged in jigsaw fashion to cover the area of the wall.while the style of arrangement is the same the colour schemes and style of art works and shoice of furniture create completly differnet feelings for each space from shabby chich to urban modern.

Graphic and bold, the wallpaper plays as significant a role as the actaul art work in this space.
